Conservatorium Maastricht is proud to announce that Hon Ning Cheung has been awarded the prestigious Henriette Hustinx Prize 2024. This esteemed prize, which has been presented since 1962, is named after Henriette Hustinx, a former teacher at our institute and violinist with the Maastricht Symphony Orchestra. The award honours three outstanding graduates from Conservatorium Maastricht, Toneelacademie Maastricht and Maastricht Institute of Arts, who demonstrate exceptional skill in their field and show great promise for the future. Each winner receives the renowned Hustinx Medal, designed by artist Fons Haagmans, along with a €5,000 prize to be used freely.
This year's final took place on 26 September 2024 at the Toneelacademie Maastricht. From Conservatorium Maastricht, Classical students took centre stage this year. The three talented finalists, Hon Ning Cheung (Composer), Nader Adabnejad (Composer), and Sepehr Keyhani (Pianist), competed for the top prize in music. The jury consisted of Reinilde Leyers (chair), Denise Petzold, and Tim Sabel.
After an evening filled with creativity, Hon Ning Cheung was announced as the winner. Her musical compositions impressed the jury, securing her the grand prize of €5,000. We congratulate Hon Ning Cheung on her remarkable achievement and wish her continued success in her promising career!
