Master of Music, Educational Track

Are you looking for more educational and artistic depth? Are you a musician with educational experience and ambition? If you have a Bachelor in Music or Music Education, this programme links up seamlessly. 
This two-year personalised Master's degree programme will broaden your career prospects. It will give you the chance to develop your talent and specialisation, and will train you to become a highly versatile music educator of the highest level. Lessons will be based on your entry level, motivation and learning questions. In addition, you will have the benefit of study career guidance and research coaching. In any case, you are an independent, enterprising and musical personality. 
You are not afraid of self-reflection and are aware of the social, cultural and international context of music education. 
This bilingual educational track of the Master of Music programme comprises programme components from the Master of Music (classical/jazz) as well as advanced educational reserach study. On graduation, you will be awarded the Master of Music degree certificate. The core of the programme and the research, however, are oriented towards educational and music-educational issues from professional practice. Having a workplace in the educational field is up to the recommendation.

Programme

The Education Track of our Master of Music has a specific design and is characterized by an objective business approach with emphasis on the discipline of music in the art education domain. Courses such as educational research, master circles and workplacement are directly devoted to developing research skills. This guarantees the development of a sober and sharp look at the failure and success factors in art education reality. Another core of the curriculum is the further development of your artistry on the instrument of your choice. Finding the relationship between these artistic development questions and their relevance to the art education world is essential.

During this Master's track (120 ECs) you will study together with graduated Bachelors of Music or Bachelors of Music in Education who are largely already working in (international) professional practice. This guarantees familiar knowledge and a substantive debate. You will receive assignment-driven lessons from a small team of teachers who will guide you during your study. You learn to research critical situations in music education in a well-founded manner and provide solutions for current problems identified in the professional field. The weekly lectures and electives (lecture format) guarantee to deepen and broaden your knowledge.
The first year has two teaching semesters. In each semester, the development of your artistry, the research questions and carrying out a literature study will be central. Year two focuses on individual specialization through the master's thesis: the extensive research and graduation project of the study programme and the completion of the artistic learning pathway.

Due to its international character, the programme is offered bilingual (ENG / NL). A good command of the English language is recommended.
