An outstanding soloist as well as a fine chamber musician, Katia Veekmans-Cieszkowski is considered as one of the most brilliant Belgian pianists. She distinguished herself in several national and international competitions before embarking on a career in which she has appeared both in Belgium and abroad with internationally renowned orchestras under eminent conductors.

She has been invited to play in prestigious concert halls throughout Europe. Her many concerts, television and radio broadcasts, and her appearances at European festivals have established her reputation as an outstanding musician of her generation. Recent performances include Tchaikovsky’s 1st piano concerto with the Brussels Philharmonic under Michel Tabachnik broadcasted live by the classical radio and Chopin’s 2nd piano concerto with the Thüringer Philharmonie (G) under Michel Tilkin. Her first recording was dedicated to Russian piano repertoire. Since, she has recorded numerous works including those by Liszt, Chopin, and Schumann.
Katia Veekmans-Cieszkowski studied under André De Groote, Brigitte Engerer, Naum Grubert, Ruben Lifschitz and Lazar Berman. Furthermore she obtained a doctoral degree in the Arts at the Free University of Brussels.
As well as teaching at Conservatorium Maastricht, Katia has been a professor of Piano at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels since 1994. She is regularly invited to give international piano masterclasses in Germany, United Kingdom, Poland, Spain, Iceland, Portugal, Slovakia, and the Netherlands.  In addition she is a member of the jury in national and international competitions.
