Scholarship for student Music in Education: Pim Müller

On June 6, 2021, Felix Havenith (Head of Programme Music in Education) sent an e-mail to the students of Music in Education with information about the possibility of winning a scholarship of up to 7,000 euros. This scholarship is made available by the Robert Schumann Gesellschaft (henceforth RSG) in Düsseldorf and aims to support students who want to work as music teachers in secondary education in their development as music teachers. Before the grant was awarded, students could submit a proposal for a project that would allow them to give extra development, depth and quality to their training, which could not have been financed without the aforementioned grant. Pim Müller, fourth-year student of the Music in Education department, has submitted a proposal to apply for the grant. He wanted to do an internship abroad in Curaçao in his fourth year. After much correspondence back and forth, the RSG decided that Pim's project was eligible for the scholarship and he was invited for an interview with a committee in Düsseldorf. After this conversation, Pim was awarded the grant. He will receive an amount of 3000 euros, which is the amount he has budgeted for his trip to Curaçao. He can still claim the other 4000 if he still has the desire to do another project for his development as a music teacher. Pim leaves for Curaçao on November 8! We wish him a lot of success!

It is good to know that the RSG is open to keeping in touch with the Maastricht Conservatorium (especially Music in Education). They also want to give other students the opportunity to apply for a subsidy for a project. This must be a project that has to do with teaching music in high school. Op 6 juni 2021 stuurde Felix Havenith (teamleider Docent Muziek), een e-mail aan de studenten van Docent muziek met informatie over de mogelijkheid om kans te maken op een studiebeurs van wel 7000,- euro. Deze beurs is beschikbaar gesteld door het Robert Schumann Gesellschaft (voortaan RSG) in Düsseldorf en heeft als doel om studenten die als muziekdocent in het secundair onderwijs willen werken als muziekdocent te ondersteunen in hun ontwikkeling. Voor de toekenning van de beurs konden studenten een voorstel indienen voor een project waarmee ze extra ontwikkeling, diepgang en kwaliteit aan hun scholing kunnen geven en die niet gefinancierd had kunnen worden zonder de genoemde beurs. Pim Müller, vierdejaars student van de afdeling Docent Muziek, heeft een voorstel ingediend om aanspraak te maken op de beurs. Hij wilde namelijk in zijn vierde jaar een buitenlandstage doen in Curaçao. Na veel correspondentie over en weer, heeft het RSG besloten dat het project van Pim in aanmerking kwam voor de studiebeurs en werd hij uitgenodigd voor een gesprek met een commissie in Düsseldorf. Na dit gesprek heeft Pim de beurs toegekend gekregen. Hij krijgt een bedrag van 3000,- euro, dat is het bedrag dat hij heeft begroot voor zijn trip naar Curaçao. Op de andere 4000,- kan hij nog aanspraak maken als hij nog de wens heeft een ander project te doen voor zijn ontwikkeling als muziekdocent. Pim vertrekt op 8 november naar Curaçao! Wij wensen hem heel veel succes!

Goed om te weten is dat het RSG ervoor openstaat om contact te blijven houden met Conservatorium in Maastricht (vooral Docent Muziek). Ze willen ook andere studenten de kans te geven om aanspraak te maken op subsidie voor een project. Dit moet dan wel een project zijn dat te maken heeft met muziekles geven op de middelbare school.
