Marcel Verheggen

Marcel Verheggen (born 1961) has taught Organ at Conservatorium Maastricht since 2002, and frequently gives masterclasses in the Netherlands and abroad. He studied Organ and Music Theory at Conservatorium Maastricht, attended several international masterclasses, and continued his Organ studies under Guy Bovet in Switzerland.

He is the organist of the Basilica of Saint Servatius in Maastricht and plays for the Capella Sancti Servatii. He is also in charge of the Pro Organo foundation in Maastricht. Verheggen has given many concerts, both as a soloist and with other instrumentalists and singers. His repertoire is broad, ranging from early renaissance to contemporary, and he has won several prizes, for interpretation as well as improvisation.
Marcel Verheggen is an adviser on the Organ Council of the Catholic Church, with which he is involved in restoration and new casting projects, and he is a member of the Dutch Organ Advisors Council and of the Board of Examiners of LOTO, the Dutch national training programme for organ advisors. He is also on the editorial staff of the encyclopaedia Het Historische Orgel in Nederland The historical organ in the Netherlands]. He regularly makes radio and CD recordings.
