David Lodewyckx

Classical

David Lodewyckx (1978) is a lecturer of Music Theory and Music History at Conservatorium Maastricht. He obtained Master degrees in Harmony and Counterpoint Studies at the Lemmens Institute (2003) and Musicology at the KU University (2007), both in Leuven, Belgium. In addition, he completed the Ergänzungsstudium Musiktheorie at the Schola Cantorum in Basel, Switzerland (2014).

He has been working in Belgian Music Academies (DKO) since 2003 and currently teaches music theory subjects at the Genk Academy (since 2007). At the Lemmens Institute in Leuven he taught courses in Harmony, Advanced Harmony and Classical Improvisation (2009-2011). He was on the academic staff for various research projects at the Musicology research unit at the University of Leuven (2007-2011). He has given presentations at various international conferences and has several publications to his name.
He is currently working on a doctoral thesis on Marpurg's galant cadence (since 2012). Since 2014, he has been a board member and secretary of the Dutch-Flemish Society for Music Theory.
