A joint project between composition students of Conservatorium Maastricht and arts students from the Maastricht Academy of Arts. Participants collaborate to build installations and perform together. This initiative forms part of the composition students’ exams, in cooperation with Intro In Situ.

Thinking Out of the (Music) Box with Health Technology | Healthcare Biometrics

Location: Conservatorium Maastricht

A round-table discussion led by three experienced colleagues from Zuyd University of Applied Sciences (departments of Health Technology | Healthcare Biometrics and Physiotherapy). They will explore the possibilities of measuring body-related parameters such as stress, muscle activity, breathing, heart rate, lung function, posture, balance, voice quality, and dexterity—focusing on applications for musicians.

Choral Conducting Workshop with Reed Criddle

As part of the Moving Music Festival, renowned American choral conductor Dr. Reed Criddle leads two inspiring workshop sessions with Conservatorium Maastricht’s choral conducting students.

These open workshops offer a unique opportunity to witness in-depth explorations of interpretation, rehearsal technique, and vocal leadership. A must for anyone interested in the art of choral direction and the dynamic interaction between conductor and ensemble.

Theory Symposium

Calling all enthusiasts from the Jazz, Music Education, and Classical departments! This symposium is an opportunity to exchange visions on theory education. Presenters will engage in dynamic presentations, interactive workshops, and demonstration lessons that spark insightful discussions.

Star Brass in Performance

An evening of brilliance and power from Conservatorium Maastricht’s talented brass and percussion students, led by renowned conductor Will Sanders. This concert brings together an exceptional ensemble of trumpets, horns, trombones, tuba, and percussion, performing a rich and varied programme that spans classical fanfare, symphonic brass, and Brazilian rhythms.

Expect works by Paul Dukas, Jan Koetsier, James Marks, and vibrant Latin-inspired pieces by Luis Gonzaga, Jesse Sadoc, and Jose Ursicino da Silva, ending with the swinging energy of The Blues March by Raymond Premru.

Electronic Night

Our Electronic Music Performance (EMP) department has been working with guest teacher Frank Wienk throughout the academic year to create their own repertoire. This inaugural department presentation takes place during our first-ever cross-department festival! Coached by Frederik Tings and regularly joined by guest teachers Frank Wienk and Paul Frick, expect an evening of diverse setups—some combining electronics with live jazz instruments, others presenting fully electronic solo sets.

A Sacred Concert

Duke Ellington - Selections from The Best of the Sacred Concerts
Conservatorium Maastricht presents a very special collaboration of all its departments. At the initiative of classical solo singing teacher Yvonne Schiffelers, Ellington's Sacred Concert was suggested as a chance to form a choir with students from the classical, jazz, and music in education departments. Marking the 50th anniversary of Ellington’s passing, this performance is the first of hopefully many cross-department events.

Beauty Will Save the World

An interdisciplinary project by Conservatorium Maastricht, the Academy of Fine Arts, and the Smart Urban Redesign research centre. Guided by Dostoevsky’s quote, “Beauty will save the world,” this project explores the deep connecting power of art, focusing on the beauty of nature, surroundings, and human emotions. Classical and contemporary music will be presented within a completely new visual concept.
