On 23 November, Hans Leenders, lecturer in organ and choral conducting at Conservatorium Maastricht, received the Teken van Verdienste (Badge of Merit) from the City of Maastricht. The award was presented by Mayor Wim Hillenaar.
Conservatorium Maastricht warmly congratulates Hans on this exceptional recognition. Leenders is not only a highly valued member of our teaching staff; he has also been active for many years as a cantor-organist, composer and conductor. With his versatility and tireless dedication, he has made a lasting contribution to the musical and cultural life of Maastricht.
Mayor Hillenaar described him fittingly as “not a musician, but a musical powerhouse. He has shown us what music can do.” With these words, he highlighted the profound impact Leenders has made: connecting, moving and enriching people through music.
