Elena Barrios, fourth-year Classical Conducting student with Arjan Tien, has been awarded the Second Prize at the 5th edition of the Almería International Conducting Competition in Spain, held on October 13th, 2025.
As the only female conductor to reach the finals, Elena shared the stage with Ulysse Derrien, William Lai, and Harris Han, conducting Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7 (1st movement) and Mozart’s Porgi amor with the Almería University Symphonic Orchestra.
